Day Passes are valid for one day of unlimited rides on all Cherriots Local and Cherriots Regional buses. Day Passes can be purchased on the bus by depositing the correct fare in the farebox. Please have exact change because neither drivers nor fareboxes give change. Credit cards are not accepted on the bus. Day Passes are also available at Customer Service.
Day Passes are only valid on the day they are:
1) activated by the farebox on the bus (for EFC-style paper passes with a magnetic strip on the back)
OR
2) hole-punched by the operator (for "flash passes" traditionally used on Cherriots Regional).
Note: Cherriots Regional buses are not equipped with fareboxes that can read EFC-style paper passes. Instead, you will show your activated pass to the operator. The pass must already be activated (i.e. expiration date stamped on the back) to be used on Cherriots Regional buses.
EFC-style paper passes with a magnetic strip on the back are activated at the farebox by inserting it into the vertical slot (see image below). After the pass is activated, slide the pass to pay fare (see image below).
Day Passes can also be purchased at UmoPass.com (for use on a Cherriots Tap Card) or on the Umo Mobility App (for mobile users). However, on Umo it is more advantageous to use stored value, because you can take advantage of fare capping. See why in the example below:
Example: After you pay two, One-Ride fares in the same day using stored value with Umo, your fare is capped for the remainder of the day. So, by using stored value on Umo, you could ride all day, as much as you want, for only $3.20 ($1.60 for each One-Ride for a total of $3.20), instead of paying $3.25 for a Day Pass. It's like having a Day Pass, for less. Plus, you have more flexibility with stored value because you'll never have to worry about buying a Day Pass and only using it for one ride. With stored value you only pay for what you use, and never more than $3.20 in a day.
