CARTS Service Changes May 8
Beginning May 8, 2017, most CARTS routes are being replaced with new Cherriots Regional express routes. The final schedules and maps can be found here. Fares will not change.
To ensure these new routes are faster and more reliable, the buses will stop only at designated stops. Passengers may no longer make a request for the bus to come closer to their home and drivers will no longer stop at alternative locations when asked by passengers on the bus.
CARTS 45, serving Dallas, Monmouth and Independence, will operate as it does now with passengers contacting the call center to request service. However, there will be a new schedule and the name will change to Polk County Flex.
In addition, Route 25 will be replaced by Route 20X, which will make five scheduled daily round-trips between Salem and Woodburn via Silverton and Mt. Angel. The Route 35 dial-a-ride will be discontinued but a daily round-trip will be added to Route 30X between Salem and Stayton for a total four round-trips.
These changes, to improve regional service in Marion and Polk counties, represent a 20-month process of research and public outreach.
